The excitement and privilege of owning an original painting
Peronel
Barnes is a well-known water colourist. She exhibits regularly
in Oxfordshire and London, including at
the Royal Watercolour Society
Open Exhibition held at the Bankside Gallery in London. She spends
as much time as she can out walking in the countryside or by
the sea, watching the light. “My painting is about creation,
nature, the world. The appreciation of space, light and landscape.
For me, nature is the work and glory of the creator. That is
what I wish to portray,” she says.
What is a watercolour, how do you choose one
and why should you buy?
Watercolours are translucent, water-based
paints,
which allow the light to shine through and reflect off the
pigment. Peronel uses a technique of watercolour painting, based
on the
transparent laying of washes, which catches the light from
the paper on which she paints and uses it as foil to the beauty
and
colour of the shapes she conjures into her art.
